Statement of Policy Letter
In 2002, The Board of Directors adopted the following policy for Seasonal Sites at the Disabled Veterans Rest Camp located on Big Marine Lake, Mn.
There are two waiting lists which veterans can be placed into:
Disabled Service connected List This list has priority for the veterans wishing to obtain a seasonal spot. VA certificate of service connected disability is required to be placed on this list. The list is in order of the time of application. First come First serve. If a site becomes available the number one veteran on the list will be contacted and offered the site. If the site is secured then a first month rental deposit is required. If the veteran declines then the individual will be placed on a declining list and the next veteran is offered the site and so on through the list until the site is rented. In all cases, an annual reapplication is required or the named veteran will be removed from the list. The reapplication can be by email, mail, in person or by telephone call for confirmation. It is the responsibility of the veteran to make this application, not the camp manager nor the Board of Directors.
Non Service connected Veterans List This list has priority for the veterans wishing to obtain a seasonal spot. This list will be maintained for non-service connected veterans. The list will be activated when all Disabled Service connected Veterans have been assigned sites or exhausted. VA certificate of service is required to be placed on this list. The list is in order of the time of application. First come First serve. If a site becomes available the number one veteran on the list will be contacted and offered the site. If the site is secured then a first month rental deposit is required. If the veteran declines then the individual will be placed on a declining list and the next veteran is offered the site and so on through the list until the site is rented. The declining list will be held until the following year when reapplication is required, the decline list is added to the bottom of the waiting list.
In all cases, an annual reapplication is required or the named veteran will be removed from the list. The reapplication can be by email, mail, in person or by telephone call for confirmation. It is the responsibility of the veteran to make this application, not the camp manager nor the Board of Directors.
